While I put the finishing touches on my recap of her big hometown concert this past weekend at the Magic Bag in Ferndale with The Deltas, here is the new single and video from the new Queen of Detroit, Jessica Hernandez.
With a new major label deal in hand, Jessica and The Deltas are starting on their debut album for Blue Note Records, with a release expected sometime in early 2013. Not sure if this one is intended for the full length or just a one-off single, but it's a good one. "Young Dumb & Drunk" is quite different from anything Jessica has released to this point, a dreamy pop ballad with a gorgeous melody. Further proof that she can master any musical style she chooses to take on, the eclectic nature of Jessica's music, and of course her incredible voice, is what first drew me in to this supreme talent. The song has been released on a limited 7" vinyl single that was for sale at the concert in Ferndale, we'll have to see if it makes the debut album.
