Since first seeing The Juliets perform their baroque pop perfection in December at The Magic Stick, I've been playing the only two studio tracks they've made available as mp3's, "The Letter" and "This Just In", ad nauseum in anticipation of their debut album. After seeing a longer set in late January at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, it's been damn near tortuous waiting for news of a release date for their debut album, originally titled "Parade".
The wait is now over as the Ypsilanti based band has made their full length debut, now self titled, available as a free download until March 13th via their Bandcamp page. A full review will come here next week when I'm back in town, but for now enjoy my current front runner for album of the year. I knew from the live versions this album had that kind of potential and The Juliets do not disappoint. I get giddy when I hear music this good. If you feel the same, and if you like brilliantly executed pop music and melodies you will, download it from their page.
